Term 3 Week 8

Finally I am back to school and full learning mode is back on, This week is just like any other week, where it consists of finishing assessments and school activities. I have a really important Awards ceremony this week where I will receive my certificate for being apart of a group of students who are privileged enough to go on the OPC camp which is at Hilary Outdoors. I am so lucky to be apart of the 7 students that are going to this camp as not only will I meet some new friends but I will try develop my leadership skills which will be very helpful if I want to consider on going for a Kaitiaki role next year.

As I was told we are receiving our Kaitiaki forms next week which will be a little bit more of a challenge as I will need to hand this in before the term ends as I will be at camp the whole of the holidays, so I would need to complete this beforehand. I also still am working towards my NCEA level 2 endorsement which will be a huge accomplishment for me, but all it comes down to is Hard work and determination. I was taught growing up that if you want want something you got to work for it, because things arent handed to you in life, they are earnt. So I got to stick to plan and work my way to achieving my goals.
Term 2 week 7

As a long an exhausting week of rugby games goes past, I finally get to rest my body this weekend, with playing the whole week I feel as if i have been ran over a dozen of trucks.
Although this week has been very tiring, It has been the best week of my life for me, not only because im playing the game I love but because im playing alongside the boys I have known since I have started Papakura High, and also representing our school with pride means more than anything to me.

Despite the tournament I have also been trying to focus on my studies even though my mindset is set on rugby for the week, As I only have 20 more credits til I pass my NCEA level 2. I have been also studying for a very important church event that is coming up, but I know if I stick to my plan I have made at the beginning of this term I know that I can function my week properly with Rugby and school.
My quote for this week is by a very famous human rights Activist Malcolm X, This has really help as I as I am still studying and hoping for a better future, But I do know that If I do prepare myself for the future, It will be a bright one!

Term 3 week 6

As week 6 goes by, its been probably the most stressful time for me in terms of schooling, because not only do I have Tournament next week basically all my subjects have assessments that are due in on friday, but with my daily prayers and encouragement from my parents and peers I know that I will hand these all in before I go to tournament week. This year I am very determined to get a excellence endorsement in my NCEA level 2, which will be very useful when applying for scholarships, jobs etc.

This past Thursday I helped my whanau(Otuuwairoa) learn a Tongan hymn that the whole school will be singing at the next assembly as it is Tongan language Week next week. Being apart of  different leadership groups really helps me develop my leadership skills more and more every week, For example every Tuesday Ka, E.K and I have our year 9 kaitohutohu class which we take care of, Being able to interact with these year 9s and teaching them about leadership things they have never learnt before is a real blessing for me because I can see already that most of them are developing into young leaders of our school.I honestly without a doubt cannot wait to see our year 9s develop into leaders.

Next week I will be at the NZRL national rugby league tournament, but that does not mean that I do no work, It just means I have heaps of homework to do and studies to catch up on. Its a real privilege to be apart of the leadership groups at Papakura High School.

Term 3 week 5

Its been another great and exciting week for me here at Papakura High School, I've had a couple of leadership meetings this week, one of them being the Te kaunihera meeting, its always been a great privilege being apart of this, as it not only helps me develop my leadership skills but also helps me speak out about things that us Te Kaunihera wanna see in our school. Another group i love being apart of is the Kaiawhina. I also love being apart of this group as we help not only our year 9 students but all those younger than us, who need help or someone to talk to. As my 4th year in High school goes by I notice that Papakura High  school has not only become a place where I learn about different subjects and what i want to pursue as a career in my future, its also became my home. The knowledge I have gained since i have started at this school has taught me so much in many different ways. one of them being who I hang out with defines my character. Last year I started hanging out with the wrong people and it kind of drifted me away from school work, but then I realized that I do want a future and I do want to be known as a leader rather than a follower. but however i do not regret hanging out with these people as it only made me stronger and made me open my eyes in the real world. The quote that I wanna share with you today is ¨There are no regrets in life, just lessons¨, this quote helped me a lot as a person and as a leader, look at this quote and hopefully it can help you too!

This week had been a very exhausting week, I have had 3 assignments that were all due on Friday which was my History,PED & Music.Rugby League Nationals are coming up in 2 weeks, so I have to also prepare for that.

Its also been a very exciting week as a few of my peers have asked me to help out with their ball proposals, One of them being our Head boy Kisione Havili, But besides from exciting things I have to stick to my plan and get these credits before it is too late. I am halfway there for a excellence endorsement in my level 2, it all just comes down to the hard-work and effort I put into my work.

I've learnt about new things this week, one of them being how to take a problem an turn it into a opportunity. In life u come across many problems, its normal, But the way you look at things and react to things, shows your true character. For example, someone having emotional breakdowns is a problem but its also an opportunity for you to get emotionally stronger. But the way you look at things from your perspective shows that your mentality. Like most people might see this is a problem but I see it as an opportunity. There´s a saying that which I have very pondered on which is ¨Inside every problem lies an opportunity¨. This means that there are always opportunities but it depends on how hard u will work for it and your mindset. The Choice is yours.

Term 3 Week 2

Its Only the Second week of Term 3 and I am stressing out on my assessments, but all i gotta do is focus and not fall off task. Music Solo Assessment is supposed to be performed this week because something went wrong in my First try. I have been joining leadership programmes to develop my leadership skills for example the other week I joined The Rising Foundation.

Also Last game of the year this Saturday for the 1st XV against Rosehill College, It'll be the last game playing alongside My year 13 brothers in Rugby Union.

I have set a plan that I have chosen to stick to, which is sticking to the important things to making my way up and achieving my goals. Another thing that I do to help with this plan of mine is praying everyday, This really helps me because I always stick to this little saying which is "Through God all things are possible".

Either from that The things I need to improve on are Continuing to wear full proper uniform to school everyday, and also providing help and comfort to our year 9's. Also remembering to have the right attitude towards school and others if i want to exceed expectations.

Term 3 week 1

So far it's been a very busy week not only with starting new assessments but with Rugby Training and also me trying a new sport which is Rugby league, Although I have been a little bit behind on some of my work, i have managed to make time to get this done, as i need to get a Merit endorsement In NCEA level 2.

I have a lot i gotta focus on to get my level 2 as i am halfway there, my challenges i have going through this week is catching up on my PED work, I have just joined this class so i have a couple of internals I need to catch up on. Also has been a stressful week due to personal reasons, but all i got to do is push forward because the only way from where I am right now is up.

For Me to manage and overcome these things I have made a plan just so it can be organised, First of all i would start with finishing my most important things before i move on to the less important things, for me my schooling would be more important than rugby, so i would try my hardest to catch up and finish my PED assessment before I go to training's.

Either from that the things I could improve on my work in class, sometimes I slack off due to distractions which i don't blame anyone but myself, So i need to get my head down if I really wanna finish My NCEA level 2 with a Merit Endorsement.
